March 2022 UAkron wins the 3rd place of Geo-Wall competition at Geo-Congress 2022 Members of the American Society of Civil Engineers student chapter from UA attended the 2022 Geo-Congress event in Charlotte, NC this winter to participate in the GeoWall Student Competition. Even though this was the team’s first year competing in the event, they won third place! The objective of the competition is to design and build a model of a mechanically stabilized earth retaining wall using paper reinforcement to stabilize a soil box. The box and model are completely student built and require months of prep work. Geo-wall team: Connor Wood, Jesse Penington, Armin Motahari (captain), and Sina Nassiri |
